The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology was established in 2022. The Undergraduate Degree Programme, BASLP, was initiated in the year 2024.
The department provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services for individuals of all ages with speech, language, hearing, and communication disorders.
From 2024 onwards, the Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology is offering the BASLP program with a vision and mission.
The department was upgraded into a full-fledged institution in the name of “School of Rehabilitation and Behavioural Sciences” in the academic year 2024–2025.

The Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology in the School of Rehabilitation and Behavioural Sciences (SRBS) is headed by Associate Professor Mrs. R. Ramya, with 14 years of experience in the field. It has 7 units, namely, the Audiology diagnostic unit, the Audiological rehabilitation unit, the Hearing Aid unit, the Auditory verbal therapy unit, the Speech and Language Diagnostic unit, the Speech and Language Therapy Unit, and the Cross Disabilities Early Intervention Centre.
The Audiology Department has various diagnostic facilities, including Hearing assessment, Electrophysiological Testing, Central Auditory Processing Evaluation, hearing aid fitting, Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Evaluation and Auditory rehabilitation. The speech-language department has facilities for the assessment of various speech and language disorders such as Voice disorders, Childhood Language Disorders, Stuttering, Speech Sound Disorders, Aphasia, Dysphagia, etc.
The Department is actively involved in continuing education programs by organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, etc, by inviting specialists in the field regularly. The Department invites specialists from different parts of the world to give the students a global experience.
The Department made tie-ups with many academic institutions in India for academic and research activities. Our university has made tie-ups with leading institutions like IIT, IIS for research activities, and is exploring tie-ups with various Universities abroad.
There is also a teletherapy service available to reach out to people in remote areas and those who are not able to avail of direct therapy services due to various reasons.
